Frequently Asked Questions

(Don't worry, we would ask too!)

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us!

  • What actually is SFi?
SFI is a student-centered, interdisciplinary group with an open-access curriculum. We hold most meetings in the fashion wing of the Myron E. Ullman, Jr. School of Design at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design Architecture Are and Planning (DAAP) but all meetings and activities are open to any UC student. Most programming is also open to the public. We do a lot! We discuss readings, host workshops with sustainable fashion experts, organize clothing swaps, produce a lot of fashion shoots, repaire clothing and make a lot of cool stuff from waste....to name a few. Come join and find out!
  • What are the goals of SFi?
RECLAIM the value lost by a linear fashion model through circular design methods and through the proper sorting and distribution of textile waste generated by DAAP Fashion studios. ENRICH the DAAP fashion program through community-wide curriculum and communication. SHARE critical data points, progress reports, curated industry news and student-generated content with the public. BUILD an ecosystem of local, national and global circular economy partners. SERVE others by applying learnings to internal and external constituencies. EXPAND efforts to address the ethics of fashion as a whole.
  • How can I be apart of SFi?
DM us on Instagram @sfi_cincinanti to see if you can join a task force! ALmost everything you do with SFI can add to volunteer hours. Contact us ASAP!
